UPDATE – Eyecare Services During the Current Lockdown

During these difficult times, we want you to make sure that you are fully aware of the eyecare services we’re offering at the moment. We are still open and here for you, whether you need emergency eyecare, or you simply need a routine appointment, such as an eye exam.

Open By Appointment Only

Open By Appointment Only

For the time being, we are only open by appointment and aren’t accepting any walk-ins, in order to safely manage the number of people in practice at any one time and protect our patients and staff. Our current opening hours are:

Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays – 9.30am–5.30pm, and Saturdays 9.30am–4.00pm.

If you do have any questions regarding your eyecare, or think you might need an appointment, please call us on 020 8867 0406 to speak to our principal optometrist, Mr Kasmani. He is offering both telephone and video call triages to determine whether your query can be resolved over the phone, or if you do need to be seen in practice. You’ll also be able to contact us via WhatsApp out of hours on the same number if you have an urgent query.

Although we are offering all our usual services, we are prioritising emergency and essential eyecare as per official industry guidelines.

Emergency & Essential Eyecare

We have historically found that we can successfully resolve around 80% of calls without you having to visit us or go to hospital.

Emergency & Essential Eyecare

As you might recall from the first national lockdown, Mr Kasmani is able to use the advanced AOS app to receive and remotely assess photos that you send through the app of any visible eye problems, such as red, dry eyes, or contact lens issues. He can then make a diagnosis and recommend treatment, as necessary.

If you are experiencing more serious symptoms, such as a sudden drop in vision, the rapid onset of flashing lights or floaters, painful eyes, or double vision, you will need to be seen in person for emergency eyecare. In this instance, we will make safe arrangements to refer you to an appropriate eyecare professional.

Glasses & Contact Lenses Still Available

We can still make up new glasses, repair or replace damaged glasses, and continue supplying contact lenses for both pay as you go orders made over the phone, and anyone who is on our monthly payment plan, with home deliveries available for your convenience and safety.

Safety Comes First

You can rest assured that if you do need to visit our practice, you’ll find all existing social distancing and hygiene measures strictly in place, including the mandatory use of face masks for everyone, and additional PPE worn by our staff members. You can find a fully comprehensive list of our current safety measures here.

We’re also continuing to update our equipment, allowing us to evaluate your eye health even more accurately, and at a safe distance for your peace of mind. Our latest investment will be the Revo 80 OCT scan, which provides us with in-depth images of back of your eyes that map even the tiniest changes, so Mr Kasmani can spot and diagnose signs of eye diseases such as age-related macular degeneration and glaucoma in their early stages.

Revo 80 OCT

This non-invasive scan takes a matter of seconds, with results that can be analysed and discussed with you straight away, so rapid action can be taken to prevent any further damage if need be.

The Revo 80 OCT also has another very useful function, allowing Mr Kasmani to also measure axial length at a safe distance. This is a critical measurement that is needed to effectively manage the progression and control of myopia, more commonly known as short-sightedness, in children.
